Moving to Denver? Top Things You Should Know
We love our beautiful city. And, it seems the rest of the country does, too. According to statistics from the Denver Office of Economic Development, the city has “led the nation over the past five years in relocations” from out of state. From 2013-2014, the population of Colorado was twice the national average. By the year 2030, the population of metro Denver is expected to increase by almost 50% to 3.8 million people. If you’re one of the people who has recently discovered the grandeur of Colorado, we want to offer you a guide on what to expect when you get here.
Have Fun Outside
Denver is in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. We know how to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors. There are countless hikes, reservoirs, biking trails, and parks to enjoy. Colorado is home to over fifty 14,000 foot mountains. They’re referred to as 14ers, and many people make it their goal to hike all of them. Colorado is the skinniest state in the nation, with an obesity rate of only 18.9 percent. Denver is listed as the seventh most fit city in the U.S! It’s impossible not to enjoy being outside when the sunshine, blue sky and trails await!
Be Happy
The emotional and physical health of people in each state was measured, and Colorado was found to be the second happiest state in the United States. This is likely due to the amount of fresh air, exercise, and good food we eat.
Comfortable Temperatures
Many people think Colorado is home to frigid winters. This simply isn’t true. In fact, the average temperature in Denver for February is 49 degrees. You’ll see people in shorts and flip-flops all – year round (ok, we admit – those people are a bit crazy). Summertime is great, with warm temperatures and blue skies so you can enjoy nature.
Great Events and Atmosphere
There are many great event venues in the Denver area. If you like sports, visit Sports Authority Stadium to watch a Denver Broncos game. Or, head to Coors Field to grab a a beer and a hotdog at a Rockies game. And, Denver is home to one of the world’s most incredible concert venues. Red Rocks Amphitheater is well-known and loved by locals. It is considered to be one of the best in the country.
